June Blossom of the Month

Every month a different member of the Death Blossoms community will be listed here with an interview and their favorite clip from the game. Nominations are collected during the previous month, and the admins decide on a final winner. For the month of June the member, Veroicone, was chosen aka … me. Besides being a member, I’m also on  the team Dreamleaf and a staff member (Event Organizer and Website editor). I was completely shocked by this and wish I could give a hug to every member of the community. Here’s what two members of the community had to say:

“She created a website for us! Not only that, but she’s irrepressibly positive and always fantastically helpful whenever anyone needs her.” – Nominator

“Took the time and effort to create Death Blossoms website/updates it. A very helpful cheerful officer at db that has put in a lot of her time into the community.” – Nominator

    1. What is your name and what gametag do you primarily go by?

Veronica and my gamertag is Veroicone. Which is basically “Veronica” in Latin. And yes, no one ever says it correctly (which is okay).

    2. How long have you been a gamer and what got you into gaming?

I’ve been playing video games since I was about 3 or 4 years old. My older sister had the original Nintendo system, and I’d often play it as well. Zelda and Super Mario Bros. were some of my favorites as a kid.

    3. What other games have you played?

Since I’ve been playing games for almost 25+ years, there’s quite a few. Some of my favorites (besides Overwatch of course) is: World of Warcraft, Halo, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, Dragon Age, Crash Bandicoot, and I’m there’s loads more.

    4. When and why did you originally start playing Overwatch? What do you like about the game?

I was already a fan of Blizzard (have been playing World of Warcraft for 10+ years) and when I heard they were creating a FPS game (which I am a huge fan of) I was SO excited! Besides the amazing community, I love the variety of heroes that the game has to offer.

    5. What heroes do you mainly play and what do you enjoy about each hero?

I am mostly a Tank/Support flex, so my favorite heroes are D. Va, Mercy, Zenyatta, and Zarya (although I do love me some Lucio, Winston, and Ana too). With D. Va I love her mobility, she can come and go as needed, chase down enemy support heroes, take out a sniper, and just zip around the entire map. With Mercy I love being able to heal or damage boost my team, and those clutch resurrections are always amazing and can completely turn a game. With Zenyatta, I mean apart from his amazing balls it’s nice to be able to create focus targets for the team through his discords and being able to also take out enemy heroes yourself. Finally with Zarya I love being able to shield not only myself but a teammate that may be getting hooked by a Roadhog or from a Mei ult. Also chasing Genji when he’s trying to reflect you and you’re just laser beaming his booty … so satisfying.

    6. What is one hero in Overwatch you’d love to learn how to play and why?

Tracer, I’ve played her some in the past but she’s not a hero I frequent. I just love how annoying she can sometimes be to the enemy backline, by either creating chaos by taking out the supports or simply just by sticking the right target with her ult.

    7. How did you find out about Death Blossoms?

I found out about DB through Melonie, one of the creators of the community. She made a video talking about wanting to create a team in Overwatch, and originally I didn’t think I was good enough to apply but decided to anyways.

    8. What do you like most about being in Death Blossoms? Any favorite memories or moments you’d like to share?

I just love the community that has been built over the last few months. If I’m having a bad day, I know I can reach out to my teammates or even another member and just have a little rant session. If I need some lootboxes for the week I can easily find other members to play with, and that even extends into other games there’s always someone online.

    9. In regards to the clip you shared, why did you choose this one and what do you like about it?

It’s from a few months ago with some old members of our team, but it just still makes me giggle. In the situation I thought I was okay with getting booped off because “oh hey there’s a teammate on the edge I can guardian angle to” but little did I know at the time she was also going off the cliff, of course I realized this very quickly.

    10. Is there anything else you would like to add? Your social media links or maybe a shoutout?

Overall I just can’t believe how much this community has grown since January, and I’m so thankful to be a part of it. And social media links: YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch. Also shout out to my amazing team Dreamleaf <3
